Authorities confirmed that Shawn Merriman, 25, the San Diego Chargers linebacker, was arrested on suspicion of choking and restraining reality star Tila Nguyen “Tila Tequila”.
The San Diego Sherriff’s Department received a disturbance call from Tila “Tequila” Nguyen at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday. “Nguyen told deputies she had been choked and physically restrained by Merriman when she attempted to leave his residence,” Public Information Officer Jan Caldwell stated.
Nguyen, 27, signed a citizen’s arrest warrant when authorities arrived on the scene, charging the NFL linebacker with battery and false imprisonment.
Merriman was taken arrested at 3:45 a.m. local time and charged with battery and false imprisonment. Tila Tequila was taken to a local hospital for treatment for loss of breath and cuts to the face.
